COVID-19 Policies

COVID-19 Policies

May 19, 2020     McMillan Real Estate,Inc. Covid-19 Policies

We have listened to our customers and have formed the following policies in response to their needs and concerns in this troubled time.

Our cleaning staff now wear masks and gloves while cleaning, allow the health giving ocean breezes to blow thru the condominiums between renters, and use hospital grade cleaning chemicals approved by the EPA for use against the Covid 19 virus, with special attention paid to bedding, upholstery, and high touch areas.

We are now set up for check-ins without renters having to enter our office, and without renters having to come into contact with our staff. All keys and key bags are disinfected between renters.

Since trip insurance will not always cover Covid-19 related cancellations, we have applied to our property owners for permission for payments on new 2020 reservations to be made closer to time. More than half of our owners have agreed to this. For their properties, and for renters who request it at the time of booking, we are now able to accept new reservations for small, non-refundable processing fees, instead of the usual deposit of half the rent. The balance will be due 15 days before the arrival date, with the processing fee applied to the total cost, if the renter still wants the reservation at that time. If the renter does not still want the reservation at that time, no additional money will be due. This will allow the renters of these properties to consult the latest news about the virus, fifteen days out, before making their final decisions.

The Covid-19 situation has decreased the incomes of many of our customers. We have applied to our owners for permission to offer 2021 reservations at 2020 rates. More than half our owners have agreed to open their vacation condominium 2021 reservation calendars with 2020 rates at this time.

North Myrtle Beach beaches are open. Social distancing on our beaches is encouraged but not required. From what I have seen, it is being observed. North Myrtle Beach is not Miami or even Myrtle Beach. The non-social distancing crowds in Miami and Myrtle Beach which were so infamously featured on the news never materialized in North Myrtle Beach in so far as I have been able to tell. News reporters hung out on our beaches like vultures waiting for the moment, some parking in our parking lot, but they came up dry and eventually gave up the effort.

Restaurants are open, with more distance between tables required. Indoor dining is allowed and available. Many restaurants which never offered outdoor dining before have added it. From my personal observations, the servers are wearing masks and gloves, and sanitizing tables and benches between diners.

Golf courses, putt putt golf courses, retail stores, hair and nail carefacilities, salons and spas, horse back riding businesses, kayaking businesses, and deep sea fishing fleets are open. Many attractions, including Brookgreen Gardens, Barefoot Landing, Cherry Grove Pier, 810 Billiards and Bowling, Duplin Winery, Twelve 33 Distillery,  Wake Park, Board and Brush, and public parks, are open. Pools might be open soon.

We hope you, your relatives, your friends, your clients, your vendors, and your co-workers are all well. Ours all are. There have been only nine confirmed cases and no deaths from the Covid-19 virus in North Myrtle Beach since the beginning of the outbreak. None of our relatives, friends, clients, vendors, or co-workers know any of the 9 people with confirmed cases, less than .0006% of the population.

Take care and we look forward to seeing you on your next vacation. The beaches are waiting.
